1908 Quebec Tercentenary Collection
The “Libra” Collection

Gary Lyon, head of Eastern Auctions, proudly introduced this exceptional collection as follows:

“I am extremely pleased to offer the Libra collection of the 1908 Quebec Tercentenary. Formed over several decades, it is in our opinion the finest assembly ever put together.”

He particularly singled out the proofs and essays in the collection, the nucleus of which was acquired in 1990 at the auction of the American Banknote Company Archives. Here is a good example:

Two full sets of imperforates were offered. The first with full gum as issued, the second without, also as issued. Both came from the edge of the sheet and accordingly had full margins. Here are two examples:
