Commentary No. 12 - 17 August, 2000 New Record Prices Realised in 2000
During the current year, we have been adding to the number of sets for which we have been providing the prices realised at auction during the past 15 years. These details may be found at our Prices realised at auctions for a selection of popular Canadian Stamps page. Soon these statistics will be updated to include the first six months of 2000. The overall trend is clearly upward. 36 New Record Prices!
The prices realised at auction during the first six months of this year have broken a number of previous records. This continues the trend of the last four years during which the number of new record prices has been increasing year by year. Based on the results from six well-known auction houses specialising in Canadian stamps, we have indentified 36 new record prices so far this year. Of these, the seven most impressive are as follows:
